Delta Dental of Arkansas is the state's leading dental insurance provider. While insurance is our business, improving oral health is our mission. We believe that everyone deserves a healthy smile which is why the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation supports a number of programs designed to improve the dental health of Arkansans. Our contributions for 2010 totaled more than $1 million, and we are on target to once again contribute over $1 million for 2011. Our annual funding supports organizations and efforts providing education, prevention and treatment to help improve the lives of Arkansans:
Education
- Scholarships for dental professionals.
- Dental school loan repayment program for dentists who commit to practicing in an Arkansas - underserved area.
- $1.5 million donation to the University of Tennessee to renovate pre-clinical and clinical facilities. This funding secured placement of 10 additional Arkansas dental students.
Prevention
- $100,000 annual donation to help bring water fluoridation to Arkansas cities.
- $500,000 commitment to provide fluoridation equipment to Arkansas water systems in compliance with 2011 passed legislation.
- $200,000 annual sponsor for the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI).
Treatment
- $100,000 annual donation to the Arkansas Mission of Mercy to provide free dental care to those in need.
- $120,000 annually as an Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile partner to bring free dental care to underserved children in elementary schools across central and northwest Arkansas.
- Over $150,000 each year to charity dental clinics across the state, bringing much needed dental treatment to individuals who can’t afford care.
